SPRING Class Sessions 2020
CLASSES WILL BEGIN THE WEEK OF March 2nd, 2020
and RUN THROUGH THE WEEK OF April 20th, 2020
Please note:
The Musical Theater / Acting classes will always feature your child with a solo song/line or monologue. We do follow our philosophy of working with each individual child at their own comfort level so solos and monologues are encouraged but not mandatory. Limelight believes that everyone deserves a chance to "Step Into Their Limelight".

INTRO TO MUSICAL THEATER AGES 6-10
MON or TUES or FRI 4:30-6:00pm
Students in this class will work with the instructor on putting together a musical review. This will include songs from some of Broadways top hits from musicals old and new. Students will be coached on singing, dancing and acting. Each semester will have a different theme. Your child will learn to create their own character, make up some of their own stories and most importantly learn to work as a team to create their show. EVERY child will have a moment in their LIMELIGHT. Whether it be singing, dancing or acting, your child will have their time to shine. Classes are capped at 10 students per class. Classes will begin the week of MARCH 2nd and run till the week of APRIL 20th.

MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE CLASS:
Tuesdays 6:00-7:30
"When the emotion becomes too strong for speech, you sing; when it becomes too strong for song, you dance." Broadway musicals have often used dance to physically show characters' emotions, create fantasies, or take audiences to faraway places, but most importantly to enhance the storytelling of the plot. Students should wear dance-friendly clothing, and either jazz shoes or danceable sneakers/flats. Classes begin the week of March 2nd and run through the week of APRIL 20th.

I LOVE TO SING!
THURSDAY 4:30-5:30 pm
Do you LOVE to sing? Do you have dreams of becoming the next big Broadway Star or Pop Diva? Well come to Limelight and work with our instructor on the do's and don'ts of singing. In this class you will learn the basics on how to pick the perfect song for you, how to work with a mic and most important how to really "sell" your song. You get to be on our stage working with a live mic and sing and act like you are the star you are meant to be! Classes begin the week of March 2nd and run though the week of APRIL 20th.

ACTING CLASS
MONDAY 4:30-6:00pm
Students in this class will learn the basic acting skills it takes to grow as an actor/performer. Your child will learn to take classic fairytale stories and put their own twist on it creating a unique show with their classmates. Much of the lessons that are taught are through encouraging your child to use their instincts on their character and scene work. Lizzy is excited to be back teaching at Limelight. Classes begin the week of March 2nd and run through the week of APRIL 20th.

ADVANCED MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE CLASS:
WEDNESDAYS 6:30-8:00pm
"When the emotion becomes too strong for speech, you sing; when it becomes too strong for song, you dance." Broadway musicals have often used dance to physically show characters' emotions, create fantasies, or take audiences to faraway places, but most importantly to enhance the storytelling of the plot. Learn how to use dancing and movement to tell a story using songs from popular musicals such as Hairspray, Bye Bye Birdie, and A Chorus Line. Students will also work on basic dance skills, how to learn/perform choreography as a group, and they will also experience an audition workshop. Students should wear dance-friendly clothing, and either jazz shoes or danceable sneakers/flats. Classes begin the week of March 2nd and end the week of April 20th.

ACTING CLASS
MONDAY 6:30-8:00pm
Students will continue to develop their acting skills in this class. Using monologues and scenes and creative writing. Your child along with the rest of the class will work together on scene work and study, they will be given age appropriate monologues and work on character study. Classes begin the week of MARCH 2ND and run through the week of APRIL 20th.
